Im Rahmen des Kolloquiums "Anticipating Anthropologies" des Seminars für Ethnologie der MLU findet am 05.12.2023 von 16:15-17:45 ein Gastvortrag zu "A Vital Frontier: Water Insurgencies in Europe" von Andrea Muehlebach statt. 

Andrea Muehlebach ist Professorin für Anthropologie im Fachbereich Anthropologie und Kulturforschung an der Universität Bremen, der Fokus liegt dabei auf der "Maritimen Anthropologie und Kulturen des Wassers". Zuvor promovierte sie an der University of Chicago und lehrte an der Universität Toronto. Ihr Forschungsinteresse liegt in der Politik und Ethik des Wirtschaftslebens insbesondere im Kontext neoliberaler Bedingungen. 

Zu ihrem aktuellsten Buch, auf das sich auch ihr Vortrag beziehen wird, schreibt sie folgendes:

A Vital Politics: Water Insurgencies in Europe, Duke UP 2023) explores the politics of water financialization and re-municipalization in austerity-era Europe. It does so from the vantage point of the political, legal, and ethical struggles people wage as they seek to protect water as a public good or commons. Here, I am not only fascinated by the financialization of infrastructures, public-private partnerships, and the continuing reconfiguration and evacuation of what “the public” is and might be, but by the new forms of political and legal imagination that took root as people attempted to reclaim their relationsship to water as a commons and collective good. These topics have a profound urgency at a time where the interlocking crises of capitalism, democracy, and the environment have become more apparent than ever before.
